The 2 P's

The two important P's I want to talk about today are: Perseverance and Potential. These are two principles that make a difference in lives if people live up to them. Ever been told you don't have potential to perform a certain task or that you can't keep at a task for a long time?
Potential

You might know something about potential. You might know that potential energy (P.E.) = m*g*h from physics or whatever but the potential we're discussing here is not exactly that. Potential in this sense is your ability to do work or perform a certain task to a certain degree... You might have been told that you don't have the potential to do a certain thing; be it playing a certain sport, scoring a certain grade on a test, succeeding in a certain field. My advice is never let anyone define you, as you know yourself the best. Don't allow anyone to bring you down or let you lose hope in your abilities. Everyone is born with a gift and abilities in a certain aspect. The individual might take some time in finding his talent or gift, but once found you'll feel that what you're doing is meant for you and you're meant for that thing.... There's a lot of renowned people that faced difficulties or their past might indicate that they wouldn't be successful in life.

One example would be Steve Jobs, whose known to have started his career and passion in his garage. Look at the Apple company now: one of the top companies in the world if not the top in its category. Also, whenever someone tells you "oh you can't do this or that", take it as a challenge to prove them wrong and actually accomplish the task. Besides people, you can be your enemy sometimes. I remember there was a course in university where I was like "I'm not going to make it" and was thinking of dropping the course. I consulted with people close to me and reached the conclusion that I shouldn't give up and keep on going and I did just that. Following this attitude I actually passed the course and with a grade I didn't expect at all..

Perseverance

One thing is to know, believe, and act like you have potential to complete any given task in mind. Yet a complementary needed factor is working consistently and keeping at the task by persisting regardless of any difficulties or obstacles on the way. This is perseverance that we should all adhere to. I'm sure we've all heard the saying: "Practice makes perfect". The more effort you put into something, the better you become at that thing and the more it pays off. Everyone has his own story with perseverance and not giving up. This concept emphasizes the concept of not giving in to anything in life and life in general and having hope that all the hard work will pay off in the end. I know it could be really hard at times when no good results are seen after of hard work, but with more perseverance and patience results will start appearing and it will feel amazing in the end. I remember I had to work really hard to attain the dean's list in university and even though I worked really hard one semester yet didn't make the dean's list, I was determined to persevere in the next semesters and thankfully achieved the dean's list and it felt great....

Note: Share your stories below and discuss how perseverance helped you in a certain task and how maybe someone said you have little or no potential to do something and you proved them wrong.
